Five Beat Weaved Added to the Tutorial List
As I mentioned before, I’m trying to bulk up the tutorial section of the site and today my goal was to expand the mini/doubles section. Last year I couldn’t even find a five beat weave tutorial on Youtube and today I was able to find two really great tutorials.
It’s a bit funny because in one of the videos, harmonyhoops comments on the fact that she now understands why no tutorials exist online because it is such a hard move to break down.
I believe it.
The five beat weave is HARD. HARD!! I read somewhere that you should learn to do the five beat weave within one year of starting your hoop journey because it will be much harder if you wait.
I believe it.
It’s all about timing. You have to be patient and wait for just the exact moment to continue with the move. Yikes! I can do it now after a lot of practice. A LOT! Make sure you are using very light hoops and heck, if you want to be like steve2bags in his tutorial… add a helmet!
Here is the Five Beat Weave Tutorial Page.
Have fun! Please share any tutorials you find that have been useful! I love adding to the collection.

New Hula Hoop Tutorial Added
My favourite part of this website is the Tutorial list I have been creating for as long as the website has existed… (maybe a year and a half at this point?) I have worked hard to find tutorials that break down moves that I have learned or eventually want to learn. Today I read a discussion on HoopCity where a hooper asks how to do a continuous vertical duck out (this is on my eventual list… lol).
Now, I didn’t have much to add to the discussion, but she did post a link to a great youtube video that does seem to break the move down quite well. Most importantly, it is great for a visual learner. The hooper has short hair and is wearing a sleeveless dress so you can see exactly where the hoop is hitting and what she is doing with her body.
I have added a new page to our Tutorials section for this move here, but I also wanted to share it here. Feel free to send me any other link that you have found especially helpful at learning this move (or any other move for that matter). I love growing the tutorials section.

Hula Hoop Breaks and Reversals Tutorials
I have noticed quite a few questions online lately about how to do breaks and reversals using your hula hoop. I thought I had a nice little selection of tutorials for these, but after looking over my Hula Hoop Tutorial list, I don’t think I do. Right now, I only have the page on Chest Reversals.
Today I’m going to update the Tutorials with a few new ones that other people have found helpful when struggling with this portion of hula hooping. I will fully admit that this is the area that I’m currently working hardest at. It is one thing to stop the hoop and make it go in the other direction, it is a totally different thing to make this look smooth and natural. You have to learn to absorb the hoop and then propel it in a very graceful manner.
My favourite video for teaching you all about hula hoop reversals and breaks is a video by lambdatronic on youtube. He shows you just about every variation of the chest reversal.
Keep an eye on my tutorial page for more reversals and breaks. In fact, I’m going to add a new section so it is easier for people to find. It’s website updating time!! =)
Happy Hooping!

Amazing Hula Hoop Youtube Tutorial
If you do not have a youtube account yet and you are a hula hooper, I strongly suggest you create one. The reason is that there are hundreds of other hula hoopers who upload their hula hooping videos to Youtube daily. Some of these videos are good, some are bad and the very small percentage are absolutely amazing.
I personally have a giant list of Hula Hoopers on my list so I can see their newest inventions, tutorials and beatiful dance displays. It is always inspiring.
One of the newest Hoopers that I’m following on Youtube is called babzrobinson. Babz is amazing. She can work a hoop unlike any other and always breaks down the move in a way that makes it easy for a person to learn the hula hoop trick.
Below you will find her newest video. Get this… It is a Chest Roll with an Added Neck Spin. You need to see it to believe it.
Also, feel free to join my Youtube Channel and follow what videos are impressing me at MaisieHoops Youtube.
ENJOY!
