• Hula Hoop Lessons Begin in Red Deer

  Beginner Hula Hoop Lessons are beginning this week at Jo Dumont Fitness Training.  The classes run six weeks in length and you do not need any previous experience.  I will take you from basic waist hooping to some pretty fantastic moves.

  6 WEEK SESSION

  Tuesdays & Thursdays – 11 am-12 noon
  Friday – 7pm-8pm

  Full Session Fee (access to all 3 times) $180.00 or $60.00 for one class per week.

   

  KIDS HULA - 4 WEEKS

  Tuesdays – 5:15pm-6:00pm

  Fee: $40.00

   

  Drop in price is $13.

• Hula Hooping in Red Deer

  Recently, I was able to secure a location for hula hoop lessons and an open hula hoop session starting in January. You can imagine how excited I was to get this news. Thank you Jo Dumont and Jo Dumont Fitness Training! Now, by times I lead a pretty charmed life, so of course Tasha from Shaw Media TV Red Deer was trying to get in touch with me to do a piece on Hula Hooping. Of Course!!

  So I sent out some emails and gathered some hoopers. On a cold Thursday morning we all arrived at JDFT and hooped for an hour while Tasha filmed and interviewed. It felt so great to be out hooping again. Admittedly, there were a lot of cobwebs I realized I had to dust off, but it felt great!!

  Below is the final product.

• September 4th Red Deer Hula Hoop Meet Up

  We are having our regular meet up this Saturday, but please be aware that we are trying a new time and location. We decided it may be better to hold it right at the Market following it closing at noon.

  So please come out and join us at noon at the Red Deer Market (at the hula hoop stall). We’d love to have you out! As always, new people are welcome. The event is free and fun!

• Hula Hoop Sale Tomorrow

  Tomorrow I will be selling some hula hoops for a wonderfully discounted price of $30 a hoop at the Red Deer Market. These hula hoops made a cross province trip with me and got a bit dusty from being strapped to the back of the van. They are still beautiful and function perfectly, but I would not want to sell these hula hoops for full price.

  If you are interested in purchasing one of these hula hoops on sale but cannot make it to the market today, leave a comment or send me an email and I will send you pictures of the hoops and send them to you. I will send these hoops via mail for a price of $40 (a $20 discount on the original price!).

  This is a great opportunity to pick up a new size of hula hoop for a great price! =)

• Red Deer Hula Hoop Meet Up

  Come out this Saturday (August 7th) at 2pm to enjoy some hula hooping.  It is held at Rotary Park and 100% free.  All skill levels are welcomed and wanted.

  In saying that, we will not be at the Red Deer Market this Saturday, but we will see you the following week!

• Anyone In Town on August 7th?

  I cannot make the hula hoop meet up at Rotary park on August 7th and have yet to find someone who is in town to host it. If you can make it, please send me an email or message and I will give you extra hoops to take with you. I would hate to have to “officially” cancel it.

  If it does need to be canceled, we’ll just pick up where we left off on the 21st!

  Recently, Laura from the Red Deer Advocate came to one of the Red Deer hula hoop meet ups to see what it was that we did and why we were doing it.  =)  This is Laura article called “That Twirling Groove“.  I love the title.

  The next meet up is August 7th at Rotary Park @ 2pm. I will not be able to make it, but Dena has promised to come out and host everyone that is interested in attending.

• Hula Hooper on America’s Got Talent

  At the Hula Hoop meet up today in Red Deer we got talking about the hula hooping girl that made it through to Las Vegas on America’s Got Talent.  None of the people there had seen her skills, so I thought I would post her video here to save everyone the search.

  Polina Volchek is absolutely stunning in this video! She has some crazy talent and flexibility!

• Now Offering Lightweight Dance Hula Hoops

  I’m proud to announce a new style of hula hoop to be added to my current heavier style hula hoops.  The new hula hoop is smaller in diameter and is much lighter than them.  If you look at the picture to the left, you can see the new Light Weight Dance Hoop on the left and the Aerobic Hula Hoop on the right.  There is a noticeable difference in the diameter of the tubing.

  I also wanted to share that another shipment of tape has arrived allowing for many more options.  I will try and update the page that lists the options of colours I have.  If there is something that you want and I do not have it, I will order it in and make you the hoop of your choice.

  Below you will see that I now have tape that has flames, hearts, skull and crossbones, the Canada Flag, the Breast Cancer pink ribbon, pink camouflage and green camouflage.

  I  do custom hula hoops for $50 a piece, so feel free to email me with any design ideas you have and we can design you a personalized hula hoop.  You can even specify the size and style of hula hoop.  Visit my Hula Hoop Store for more information about them.

  My last announcement today is that Play It Again Sports Red Deer will be carrying my hula hoops!  Starting tomorrow, Monday, June 28th you will be able to find an assortment of hula hoops.  Please stop in and have a look to see what is available there.

• HulaHoopers.ca Now Has a Facebook Group

  On Saturday we had another great Hula Hoop get together.  It was a great mixture of children and adults.  Thank you to everyone that came out, I hope to see you out next time!!

  During the meet up, one hooper mentioned that it would be easier for her to keep track of the dates if we used facebook to list the events.  So after a little bit of tinkering, I have the start of a group that will allow me to do just that!  If you would like to be informed of the get togethers via facebook, that option is now available.  =)
