In honour of the support the gym has shown HulaHoopers.ca and the propr community, I will be hosting the last three jams there for only $5 per person. The next jam is 7pm this Wednesday.

During the next three weeks, I will be trying to figure out an alternative for us. I imagine we will use an outdoor space for the summer, but I would love to get started on finding a new permanent home. If you have any ideas, or know of any places that would be appropriate and affordable, please let me know. As well, any outdoor locations you think are a good fit… let me know. I’m hoping to find a place that has a bit of cover in case it rains.

We had a fun Hoop Jam on St. Paddy’s day at JDFT Inc.  We shared some new moves with each other and really got to spend some time connecting and exploring space within our hoop.

I decided to take a video to share online and my oldest son film it.  What turned out to be just a little short clip, turned into one of the hardest laughs of the day.  If you watch the video and look at the woman second from the right, you will see that her hoop pops open in the middle of angled chest hooping!!  It was our one and only take of the day.  =)

In other news, I’m changing the website around a bit.  I was getting bored of the old theme and it was limiting what I could do with the site… making it more confusing for visitors rather than nice and easy to navigate.  If you come across anything that is acting funny, please let me know.

Hoops Jams, Prop Jams, Hoop Practice… whatever you may want to call it…  is starting March 7th at JDFT Inc.  There will be two times each week to join in.

Wednesdays:  7pm to 9pm
Saturdays:  1pm to 3pm

Cost is $10 drop in or $7.50 with the purchase of a punch card.  Please make sure to connect with me for payment as the gym will not accept payment.

These drop in sessions are very casual.  If you ever attended the Hoop Jams in the park, this is the same concept.  You show up when you like and leave when you like.  All skill levels are welcome and I will have hoops for anyone that does not have their own.

Please come out and join our growing props community here in Red Deer.  This is such an awesome opportunity for all of us.  I can’t wait to see all of you out!

Hula Hoop Lessons

A new round of hula hoop lessons will begin on Monday, March 5th.  Three classes will be held on Monday.  The cost is $40 for the children’s class and $60 for the adult classes.

You must be preregistered to attend these classes.

Children (four weeks):  5:15pm to 6pm
Beginners (six weeks):  6pm to 7pm
Intermediate (six weeks):  7pm to 8pm

Also, I am offering a Multi Level Hoop Lesson starting March 7th.  Drop ins are welcome for this class and the cost is $10 each lesson.  If you are an advanced hooper, feel free to join us!

Wednesdays from noon to 1pm.

I will personally be taking payment for the lessons (unlike last time).   If you would like to pay online, visit here.

Hoop Path in Edmonton

So I sent out some emails and gathered some hoopers. On a cold Thursday morning we all arrived at JDFT and hooped for an hour while Tasha filmed and interviewed. It felt so great to be out hooping again. Admittedly, there were a lot of cobwebs I realized I had to dust off, but it felt great!!

I realize that a lot of people that are searching for hula hoop videos, are not necessarily trying to learn more moves or watching for inspiration… some people just want something more similar to an aerobics video.  When I started searching for these videos, I realized how hard it was to just find videos.  Many of the “Hula Hoop Workout Videos” are actually interviews or people talking about the benefits of hula hooping… they aren’t actually showing you what to do.  Frustrating.
