• Shipping Hula Hoops to Customers

    Date: 2011.05.06 | Category: HulaHoopers.ca General Information | Response: 2

Who doesn’t like mail?  Who wouldn’t love to have a hula hoop shipped right to their doorstep?  The photo you see is how we package our hoops.  Because we are environmentally conscious, we do our absolute best to only use recycled material to ship the hoops.

As you can see from the photo, I had some brown kraft paper left around from an old wrapping paper roll.  My children wanted to colour it, the new owner of this hoop will have a lovely amateur piece of artwork to go along with their hoop.  The other two hoops were wrapped in bubble wrap that my husband had employees save from his work.  For me, it is the easiest to use.

We have looked at using boxes, but the unique shape of the hoop really makes it stand out when you simply wrap the actual hoop.  Feel free to visit our Hula Hoop Store and have a hoop of your own delivered.

After much anticipation, our hula hoop store is back up and running! Although the store front wasn’t up, I continued to fulfill orders that came via email and also restocked Play It Again Sports with 8 new hoops for Hula Hoopers in Red Deer.

You can visit the main store page at Hula Hoop Store or you can visit the individual pages for the Weighted Hula Hoop and the Exercise Hoop that we sell. Our hula hoops are 100% customizable, so I can create any pattern or design that you desire.

Visit our Facebook Fan page to see our past creations to find some inspiration and see the options available to you.

    Happy Hooping!

  • Hula Hoops for Exercise – and Spring Time!

Date: 2011.04.06 | Category: Hula Hoops for Exercise | Response: 0

Spring is here and that means interested people asking about hula hoops for exercise.  The nice weather attracts many people outside after being couped up for the winter and it seems that this also brings out the inner hula hooper in many.  Truly.  I had to deliver another 8 hula hoops to Play It Again Sports on Monday.  There are some really nice ones too!  (Wish I had remembered to snap some photos before I dropped them off).

More to the point, spring brings on activity and the hula hoop is a perfect option for many.  It is low impact in many ways and helps you burn calories.  You can add music and start practicing various hula hoop dance moves.  You are able to be creative and have fun while keeping fit.

If you would like to see some youtube hula hoop workouts and see how others use hula hoops for exercise, visit our Hula Hoops for Exercise page.

Oh, one last thing.  The store is still offline, but if you would like to order a hoop, just send me an email.  I’m trying to find the best online storefront system that will be easy for you to navigate and easy for me to manage.

  • Meet Up Today

    Date: 2010.09.25 | Category: Uncategorized | Response: 0

We’re having a meet up today at noon behind the hula hoop stall at the Red Deer Market.  I’ll be there all morning to hoop if you like, but hopefully we’ll have a nice crew together to enjoy one of the last few days of nice weather I’m sure.

There will be extra hoops there for those that don’t own one.

    See you there!

  • Slight Change to HulaHoopers.ca

Date: 2010.09.05 | Category: Hula Hoop Store, HulaHoopers.ca General Information | Response: 0

If you have been to our site before, you are likely going to notice a few “minor” details.  I put that in quotations, because although they are minor on the surface, a lot of hard work went into the changes.  =)

I will 100% admit that I’m an internet geek.  I love building websites and blogging, but when you are actually building a website that has a store… it comes with some endearing and some not so endearing qualities.

Slowly, I am learning my way around and basically trying to make the site better for the end user.  But it is a process.

If you see anything that is glitchy or have a suggestion to improve an aspect of the site, please let me know.  I would love your input to make this a more efficient place for you to visit.

As with all websites and blogs, they are rarely ever completed or finished, but my vision is becoming more of a reality.  Sadly (or fortunately) I start work this week (teaching) so I will have less time to tinker, but still plenty of time for hula hooping and hula hoop making.

    Happy Hula Hooping!

  • Hula Hoop Sale Tomorrow

Date: 2010.08.13 | Category: Hula Hoop Sale, HulaHoopers.ca General Information, Red Deer Hula Hoopers | Response: 0

Tomorrow I will be selling some hula hoops for a wonderfully discounted price of $30 a hoop at the Red Deer Market. These hula hoops made a cross province trip with me and got a bit dusty from being strapped to the back of the van. They are still beautiful and function perfectly, but I would not want to sell these hula hoops for full price.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these hula hoops on sale but cannot make it to the market today, leave a comment or send me an email and I will send you pictures of the hoops and send them to you. I will send these hoops via mail for a price of $40 (a $20 discount on the original price!).

This is a great opportunity to pick up a new size of hula hoop for a great price! =)

  • Hula Hoop Breaks and Reversals Tutorials

Date: 2010.07.30 | Category: Hula Hoop Tutorial | Response: 0

I have noticed quite a few questions online lately about how to do breaks and reversals using your hula hoop. I thought I had a nice little selection of tutorials for these, but after looking over my Hula Hoop Tutorial list, I don’t think I do.  Right now, I only have the page on Chest Reversals.

Today I’m going to update the Tutorials with a few new ones that other people have found helpful when struggling with this portion of hula hooping. I will fully admit that this is the area that I’m currently working hardest at. It is one thing to stop the hoop and make it go in the other direction, it is a totally different thing to make this look smooth and natural. You have to learn to absorb the hoop and then propel it in a very graceful manner.

My favourite video for teaching you all about hula hoop reversals and breaks is a video by lambdatronic on youtube. He shows you just about every variation of the chest reversal.

Keep an eye on my tutorial page for more reversals and breaks. In fact, I’m going to add a new section so it is easier for people to find. It’s website updating time!! =)

    Happy Hooping!
